Mother Earth Embrace - Collage Artwork - A4 Print

This is a print of an original piece of collage artwork – each of my artworks are lovingly created from a patchwork of coloured and patterned papers carefully created in my home studio in Richmond North Yorkshire

Additionally I use a wide range of craft punches to add shapes to the image as well as a cornucopia of materials I have gathered together over time

My designs are inspired by the words of my original poems which are often based on themes of nature, the seasons and the beautiful colours and sight associated with them  The words of my poems are cleverly woven into the design making a completely unique item

This collage was inspired by themes around a solstice fair I am attending – with the image of a female figure embracing the Earth . I used multiple layers of mulberry paper cut with serrated scissors to form the central colours of the Earth and of female figure – adding in some embroidered flowers to her hair

The poem is an expression of the wish for there to be peace on Earth :

This Earth

Our home

Deserves

To have hopes and dreams

Surely she dreams

Of oceans of love

And a land triumphant

In a victory of peace

Let us lean

On the folded hills

For strength

To bring this

To our lives
