This is a print of an original piece of collage artwork – each of my artworks are lovingly created from a patchwork of coloured and patterned papers carefully created in my home studio in Richmond North Yorkshire
Additionally I use a wide range of craft punches to add shapes to the image as well as a cornucopia of materials I have gathered together over time
My designs are inspired by the words of my original poems which are often based on themes of nature, the seasons and the beautiful colours and sight associated with them The words of my poems are cleverly woven into the design making a completely unique item
This collage was made by creating a patchwork background of moon and star papers – I always love how the magic of collage creates such a unique pattern! I also added decorative washi tape and individually cut white stars using a craft punch
The tree was drawn using a lovely stencil and I was especially pleased how I managed to create the words of the poem to look like the roots of the tree – its amazing how much design websites enable you to do !
The poem is :
A tree stands rooted to a summit
In wisdom and love
Bound to the earth
Yet touching the sky
And love and wisdom
Grow as quietly
As the branches and leaves
Each year dying to be reborn
Transforming light
Into new being
As surely as the sun and moon
Emerge silent in their exaltation
Of all that is beautiful
