This collage artwork print card is a print of an original A3 collage artwork I created and the main image is surrounded by a beautiful matching border on this card.
Each of my artworks are lovingly created from a patchwork of coloured and patterned papers carefully created in my home studio in Richmond North Yorkshire
Additionally I use a wide range of craft punches to add shapes to the image as well as a cornucopia of materials I have gathered together over time
My designs are inspired by the words of my original poems which are often based on themes of nature, the seasons and the beautiful colours and sight associated with them
The words of my poems are cleverly woven into the design making a completely unique item and with this card the poem is also printed on the back
This collage is made to represent the beautiful shafts of moonlight in a perfect starry sky !
I have attempted to make this design several times but have only become successful as my design skills have improved so that the words of the poem run in perfect lines aligned to the stripes of light. I had fun using scissors that cut jagged lines too to cut the white card
The design contains lines from one of my favourite poems about the moon – with the poem printed on the back of the card :
The awe inspired Moon
Smiled benevolently
Captured in a halo
Of her own beauty
Then she breathed in
As if to draw to herself
Her lighted herringbone clouds
And hide once more
Beneath their sheltered blanket
As if too much love given
Withdraws on itself for protection
And in withdrawing
She cleared the sky
To find her companions
Studded around her
After the sky’s night
Has cried its heart out
Unrainbowed now she sits quietly waiting for the sun
As the Moon passes to daytime unreality
Her fading unlimits her beauty still
At the pinked entrance of the sun in the wintry sky
Her tears enfold the valley in a gentle embrace
As the clouds above fly past in waves of flocked birds
Until at last the sun raises its true colours into the sea of sky
And she merges once more with the winter coloured cloud
