This is a print of an original piece of collage artwork – each of my artworks are lovingly created from a patchwork of coloured and patterned papers carefully created in my home studio in Richmond North Yorkshire
Additionally I use a wide range of craft punches to add shapes to the image as well as a cornucopia of materials I have gathered together over time
My designs are inspired by the words of my original poems which are often based on themes of nature, the seasons and the beautiful colours and sight associated with them The words of my poems are cleverly woven into the design making a completely unique item
This collage is a powerful image of a fiery woman – I combined an image of a female goddess with the body image from a painting I created many years ago . The collage is made up of layers of mulberry paper for her hair and silky material leaves for her crown.Her flowing robes are made of individually cut hearts in the matching colours of the flames at her feet – the poem on which the imagery is based is one of the longest ones on my cards and is a powerful message about the unity of life as a human being and the life and world of nature all around us
My being is a raging flame
Pulsating light
I burn into my body
With waking eyes
My being is a raging flame
Gathered into a fire
Into which to tell stories
To sing around
To listen to being songs
My being is the silent earth
Laid below the fire
My being is the soft moonlight
Silent is its exaltation
Of all that is beautiful
It is creation born
In shining ideals
It is the silence
Within moments between breathing
It is the purity of a frosted dawn
World waiting in hushed silence shining
It is the sparkling river in my eyes
Mirroring the Autumn sky
Blowing with sunlight leaves
Changing to be reborn
I burn into my body with light
And love
My being is love
