A4 Print Tree of Hearts

This is a print of an original piece of collage artwork – each of my artworks are lovingly created from a patchwork of coloured and patterned papers carefully created in my home studio in Richmond North Yorkshire

Additionally I use a wide range of craft punches to add shapes to the image as well as a cornucopia of materials I have gathered together over time

My designs are inspired by the words of my original poems which are often based on themes of nature, the seasons and the beautiful colours and sight associated with them  The words of my poems are cleverly woven into the design making a completely unique item

  I was inspired to create this collage by an image I saw of a tree full of hearts stood in a snowy scene . I have recreated this idea using a stencil of a tree initially to which I added individual red hearts that I cut by hand with a craft punch .

I created the snowy ground using a mixture of snow patterned papers cut to the shapes of the hills and for fun I added some contrasting blackbirds . The whole picture is framed by a border of washi tape in dark blue with gold shiny hearts for effect

The words of the poem are my poem about the beauty of snow – I wrote this poem on a journey by train through a snowy landscape and it describes how everything seems moulded together in a snowy scene

Here are some of the lines of my poem:

Snow is not like a blanket

It is like itself

The clouds finding a temporary rest

Swapping their places of abode

So that as I look

Land, cloud, mountain, sheep

Are all moulded together

The clouds another layer

Of hills and mountain

The stars swapping with icy water
